Originally named "in Agone" (from latin "", meaning games) from the 15th century it was developed, new churches and palaces around were built, the old structures razed and replaced with more modern buildings constructed in the unique Renaissance and Baroque style, thus Piazza Navona became a public and prestigious space enriched by architectural treasures of extraordinary beauty and historical importance, it is worth a mention: Fountain of Neptune (Fontana del Nettuno or dei Calderari) created by Giacomo Della Porta and abandoned for a long time until the end of the 19th century, when it was completed by Zappalà and Della Bitta; the magnificent Four Rivers Fountain (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi), designed by Bernini and situated in the heart of the square in front of the Church Sant'Agnese in Agone (Chiesa di Sant'Agnese in Agone), its base supports four river-gods representing the four major rivers known at that time: Nile, Danube, Ganges and Rio della Plata, the ancient obelisk is surmounted with the Pamphili family emblem, while the construction of the church began under the architects Rainaldi and, at a later stage at the instigation of Pope Innocents X (who here lies), under Borromini; the church stands exactly where St.Agnes is believed to have found martyrdom, the interior is enriched by golden objects and marble while its basement keeps some ruins from the antique Domitian's stadium; the Moor Fountain (Fontana del Moro) designed by Della Porta and built under Pope Gregory VIII, was later restored and completed by Bernini under Pope Innocents X; the Renaissance Church Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (Chiesa Nostra Signora del Sacro Cuore), imposing palaces such as Palazzo Braschi, Palazzo Lancellotti, Palazzo Tuccimei and Palazzo Pamphilj.Out on deck you can enjoy the view from one of our two Jacuzzis. There is a comfortable bar at the front of the ship where you can enjoy a nice traditional drink.
